PYO 2010-2011 Season Auditions

Auditions for all PYO groups for the 2010--2011 season will be held on the following dates:

May 5 - Strings (4-9 PM)
May 6 - Woodwinds, Brass (4-9 PM)
May 8 - Strings (12-5 PM)
Percussion auditions are scheduled by appointment.

Appointments will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis after your application and a $25 fee has been received. You will be notified with results within two weeks. Application Deadine: April 28.

Auditions are conducted in a warm and friendly setting with the Youth Orchestra staff specialists.  Parents and teachers are welcome!

Audition Requirements
Strings, Woodwinds, and Brass (all levels):
  2 major and 2 minor scales (student's choice)
  An etude and a solo work of student's choice
  For advanced strings at the PYO level, a solo Bach movement is preferred, but not required.
  Possible sight-reading.

Percussion
  Prepared etude and solo on instrument(s) of choice (snare drum, timpani, bells, etc.) Large instruments provided for the audition. Applicant should bring their own snare drum.
 

Membership is open to all students who wish to study symphonic repertoire and enhance their school music experience. Members are required to be enrolled in their school music program, unless there is no school music program, or the music teacher signs a statement that a required subject interferes with such enrollment.
