Auditions

Auditions for all PYO groups the 2008-2009 season will be held on the following dates:

April 23 - Strings, Woodwinds, Brass (4-9 PM)
April 24 - Strings, Woodwinds, Brass (4-9 PM)
April 25 - Strings (4-9 PM)
April 27 - Strings (12-5 PM)
Percussion auditions are scheduled by appointment.

Auditions are conducted in a warm and friendly setting with the Youth Orchestra staff specialists.  Parents and teachers are welcome!

Audition Requirements
Strings, Woodwinds, and Brass:
2 major and 2 minor scales (student's choice)
An etude and a solo work of student's choice
For advanced strings at the PYO level, a solo Bach movement is preferred, but not required.
Possible sight-reading.
Percussion
Prepared etude and solo on instrument(s) of choice (snare drum, timpani, bells, etc.)

Membership is open to all students who wish to study symphonic repertoire and enhance their school music experience. Members are required to be enrolled in their school music program, unless there is no school music program, or the music teacher signs a statement that a required subject interferes with such enrollment.
