• Benjamin Salsbury, cellist from West Palm Beach, FL returns for his 11th season coaching preparatory strings and introductory chamber music.

• Suzanne Walter-Geissler, violinist & violist from West Palm Beach, FL returns for her 7th season coaching preparatory strings and introductory chamber music.

The friendly and supportive atmosphere of the Peninsula Music Camp welcomes musicians to enroll at any proficiency level, and encourages individual musical growth through innovative classes designed for discovery, learning, challenges, progress, and success. The Peninsula Music Camp accepts instrumentalists enrolled in their school music program (if offered at their school) who have studied an orchestral instrument one or more years. Summer 2012 offers many diverse sessions for students, ages 6-18, in every stage of their musical journey!

Session 1 - Sunrise Symphony with the Preparatory Orchestra Staff & Guest Artists
July 23-27     9 AM-12 noon; Location: Heather School, 2757 Melendy Drive, San Carlos. 
Fee: $180 - Due July 1
Informal Concert on July 27 at 11:30 AM

• A Beginning Orchestra Experience for musicians with limited or no previous ensemble experience
• For String, Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion Players with one to three years of lessons

 
Session 2 - Summer Symphony & Chamber Ensembles with the Preparatory Orchestra Staff & Guest Artists
July 23-27     1-5 PM; Location: Heather School, 2757 Melendy Drive, San Carlos.  
Fee: $230 - Due July 1
Informal concert on July 22 at 3:30 PM

• For players with four or more years of lessons, and previous ensemble experience
• Challenging Orchestral repertoire, from classics to pops!
• Experience Chamber Music

Session 3 - Advanced Chamber Music with Mitchell Sardou Klein & Patricia Whaley
July 23-27     6-9 PM at Carlmont High School, Belmont   
Fee: $250 - Due June 25*
Formal Recital: July 29 at 7:30 PM

Enhance your overall musicianship through chamber music!

• An intensive week of rehearsing, coaching, and performance of chamber music masterworks -for experienced musicians
• Already-existing ensembles are encouraged to enroll
• String, woodwind, and brass players accepted; a limited number of pianists accepted by audition
• *Note: It is very important to submit your application by June 25 so that groups can be formed, and your music can mailed to you for your preparation.  Musicians are expected to learn the music in advance!

Session 4 - String Camp with Preparatory Orchestra Staff & Guest Artists
Enjoy a week of "everything strings,"  for ALL string players with one or more years of lessons!

Prelude Strings: 1-3 years of lessons
Intermezzo Strings: 4+ years of lessons

July 30 - Aug. 3     10 AM-5 PM; Location: Heather School, 2757 Melendy Drive, San Carlos.  
Fee: $380 - Due July 1
Add "Early Bird Strings" for an additional $40 (9-10 AM)
Informal Concert on Aug. 3  at 3:30 PM

• Traditional and Suzuki String Players Welcome!
• String Orchestra: New Music and the Classics
• Introductory & Traditional Chamber Music
• Develop Sight Reading & Ensemble skills
• build Rhythmic skills with games and percussion instruments
• Strings care and maintenance

 Transfer to Viola or String Bass!

• Instrument & Lessons provided!
• Enroll in String Camp or Summer Symphony
