String Chamber Director Sarah Wood is a violinist and educator based in the Bay Area. She currently conducts Debut and Concordia Strings with PYO. Sarah has conducted ensembles at San Domenico High School, for the Berkeley Youth Orchestra and Villa Sinfonia, and has led violin and viola sectionals for the Golden State Youth Orchestra and the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra. She has served on the faculty at the Crowden School and teaches chamber music at the Zephyr Point Chamber Music Retreat.
Sarah is a regular performer with the San Francisco Symphony and holds tenured positions in several of the Bay Area's regional orchestras. Additionally, she frequently performs as a chamber musician, recitalist, and soloist. A California native, Sarah studied with Robin Sharp and Zaven Melikian during her formative years. She holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Violin Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
