Membership in PYO is open to all students who wish to study symphonic repertoire in an educational setting. PYO highly recommends members participate in their school’s instrumental music program if it is offered. These school programs offer opportunities for daily ensemble participation, which is then complemented by involvement in PYO. We want to support school music programs, so please speak with your school music teacher for approval to enroll in PYO.

Occasionally we have a continuing need for certain instruments during the season. These instruments typically include string bass, viola, trombone, oboe, and French horn. If you are interested in a mid-season audition, send a completed audition application to info@peninsulayouthorchestra.org and we will contact you to submit an audition.

NOTE: New member audition applications for the 2024-25 season are now closed.

Auditions for the 2024-2025 season will be held during the spring of 2024 by video submission. Musicians who are new to the organization and returning members auditioning for the senior-level PYO should have received instructions to record and submit their video audition. We will assess gaps in the orchestra and accept late audition applications for typically “endangered” instruments (e.g., string bass, viola, trombone) if necessary.

Video auditions will be due as an assignment in your ensemble’s Google Classroom. Since we have your information on file, you do not need to submit an audition application.
